Rev. Fr. Dr. P.C.Thomas , faculty member of St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Nagpur has been appointed as the new bursar. He will be replacing Rev. Fr. Phillipose Vennattu. Rev. Fr. Dr. P.C.Thomas is a member of Mar Baselios Dayara, Njaliyakuzhy, Kottayam. He has completed his MTh from the Senate of Serampore & pursued his DTh from the Virginia Theological Seminary, USA. He has served as the Diocesan Office Manager for the Diocese of North East America for a term of 5 years. He was also the vicar at St. Thomas O.S.C, Greater Washington, USA for a term of 5 years. He is presently serving as the Professor in the Department of Religion and is also the warden of the seminary.
The theme for OVBS-OKR 2013-’14 is “HUMBLE YOURSELF AND BE EXALTED”, - St. Matthew 23:12.

St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Nagpur would be conducting the Annual general Body meeting of Orthodox Sunday school association of the East, Outside Kerala region (OSSAE, OKR) during Sept 14-15, 2013. H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, President of OSSAE, OKR would grace the occasion. Delegates from all Outside Kerala Dioceses would also be present.
St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary invites applications for the new academic year. The application form can be downloaded from the link given below or can be obtained from the office. Minimum secular education required is Graduation in any subject from a recognized university. The last date for the submission of application is 30th August 2013. Classes will begin in the month of November.

The first session of ‘Satsang’ for the academic year was held on July 24,2013. The session for the year saw colorful inauguration by H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan of Ahmadabad Diocese. Further, the session was taken by H.G. Dr. Yakob Mar Iraneus, Metropolitan of Kochi Diocese. The topic for the evening was “Saints of the Malankara Orthodox Church with special reference to Vattaseril Geevarghese Mar Dionysius, the Sabha Bhasuran”.
The Arts Club was inaugurated for the academic year 2013-14 on Friday, 19 July 2013 with a new tag and color called ‘Sarangi’ by H. G. Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, the Working President of the Seminary and the Diocesan Metropolitan of Mumbai. His Grace gave the inaugural speech followed by the lighting of the lamp. The students from the seminary displayed their talents in various forms like singing songs, reciting poems and performing dramas. The cultural evening concluded with a short documentary film on the Gregorian community, Roha.

The seminary has always been an example of helping those in dire need as true stewards of Christ. As part of the social welfare program of the seminary, a blood donation camp was held in the campus on Saturday 21st July, by Jeevan Jyothi Blood Bank. The donors included seminary students, seminary staff as well as the seminary faculty.
The seminary sharpens not only the academic skills but also the extracurricular skills of the students. ‘Annual Sports Meet’ launched as FIRANDA 2013 was flagged off by H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan of Ahmadabad Diocese in the able presence of the Seminary Vice-principal Rev. Fr. Dr. Shaji P. John. The inauguration was followed by a volley ball match played under an overcast sky. The seminary students were grouped in four groups to be pitted against each other to showcase their sports skills.

Kerala has produced great gurus like Sri Sankaracharya,Sri Narayana Guru,Nitya Chaitanya Yati, Dr.Paulos Mar Gregorios etc. The name of H.G. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios, the senior bishop of Malankara Orthodox Church, can also be included in such a list. He is a Great Guru who has synthesized the ways of jnana(wisdom), bhakti(Devotion to God), and karma(acts of love)and it is not easy to find out which among them is the strongest in him.
Dr. Thomas V. Thomas, psychiatrist and counselor from U.S.A. visited STOTS Nagpur and led sessions on mental disorders and common psychological problems based on several case studies. He led sessions on Mental Disorders, and anger management. The sessions were interactive with discussions and fruitful for competence in Christian ministry.
